Going to the zoo has to be one of my favorite childhood memories. My mom would always take me and a friend for an afternoon of fun amongst the animals. Besides the smell, the zoo has so much to offer. I’ve always gone to the Dallas zoo although I’ve heard the Fort Worth Zoo is much better. The prices are really reasonable and they have the neatest stuff in the gift shop. They also have strollers to rent which is really convenient for parents with multiple kiddos. I remember the first thing you see when you walk through the gates are the flamingos. Flamingos have to be the most random animals God put on this earth. They stand on one foot and are pink? Anyways, you have the option to feed them which is fun for children. I swear some people spend half of their time there just staring at those damn birds. After you manage to get past them, the path guides you to the reptile house. Yuck. I don’t mind looking at snakes. I think they’re actually pretty cool but lizards are definitely not for me. I usually prefer to move onto the butterflies which are strangely located next to all those creepy crawlers. They’re so graceful and pretty. Wow, I sound like a 5 year old little girl, but it’s true. I’m sure all guys’ favorite part of the zoo (and only reason for being drug along) are all the lions and tigers and bears oh my! It really is amazing to see these creatures close up. I think most people don’t realize how big these guys are until they see them for themselves! I can’t wait to take my next trip to the zoo and hopefully bring my daughter along to see all of the unique animals.
