Airports
I have always had a small fear of heights. When I was a cheerleader this was something I had to overcome because I was the flyer, but I was never really that high off the ground. I got over it then, but when I was 16 I had a fly in an air plane for the first time. It was a scare situation because I had never done it and I had to go alone. It was probably the worst first flight anyone has ever had, because the idiot lady wrote down the wrong gate number in the Houston Air Port and I was waiting at that gate when I heard my name announced over the loud speaker. I was already so scared, and since I was a minor they weren’t aloud to leave without me on the plane because I had been checked in at the air port by my mom. So, they started repeating my name and told me what gate to go to, and when I got there the plane had already moved and had to move back to come get me and I had to step in it with a big space in between. I didn’t have time to calm down before it took off, and that flight wasn’t good at all. I’ve flown a few times since then, the worst being out of Denver to New Mexico on a transfer flight from Vegas. They told us before we took off that it would be like a roller coaster and that we weren’t aloud to ever get out of our seats. It was the worst flight I had been on, and knowing that it can get hat bad and still be normal made me realize that they know what they are doing and I shouldn’t be scared anymore. Being on a flight that bad and still making it home has cured my fear of flights.

Airports
Why is it that people who work at airports are so rude? I think it has to be written somewhere in the contract they sign. And it’s not just the TSA agents either! It’s ALL airport employees. Maybe they’re constantly in bad moods because they have to watch everyone else board a plane and wave goodbye to their troubles. I just wish they would suck it up and put a damn smile on their face. Everyone has to work for a living! Over the Christmas holiday, my husband and I flew up to Maine to visit my mom. While we were on a layover in Cincinnati, we were confused as to where to go next. We thought we were headed in the right direction but we weren’t and my husband got a little too close to the “Do Not Cross This Line” sign. A TSA guy came flying out of nowhere yelling at my husband telling him he had to go through security again because he had crossed the line. He had done nothing of the sort because he was still standing in front of the line when he was being reprehended. He said they were going to have to close down the entire terminal if he didn’t go through security again. It wouldn’t have been a big deal but they were acting like he was a terrorist and had a bomb in his pants! I was seven months pregnant at the time and an emotional wreck. I could not believe they were treating him this way. After the ordeal, we complained to his superior but I doubt anything was done about it. Flying itself is scary enough. Why make the experience more traumatic than it has to be?
