Having a washing machine and dryer is amazing. I know these are common appliances that most people have but for poor college students and newlyweds, having them is quite a luxury. Until recently, I had never had a washing machine and dryer in my home. When I was living in various apartments these past 5 years, it was such a pain in the ass to do laundry. I was usually super busy with school and work and never had time. When I actually did get around to doing it, it was a ridiculous amount. This meant multiple loads, probably not enough washers open to get it all done at once, and most likely dropping some article of clothing between your apartment and your destination. The worst is when I lived in San Angelo. My roommate and I lived in a house and there was not a laundromat nearby. Our dirty clothes would pile up and pile up. It was ridiculous. My solution to this problem was paying other people to do my laundry because I just couldn’t find the time to take 5 loads to the laundromat. It was actually not too expensive but a waste of money nonetheless. Even after I got married and had a baby, I still was being inconvenienced by not having a washing machine and dryer. We lived on the 2nd story and after I had my daughter, I was hauling laundry up and down the stairs multiple times a week. My husband and I finally started renting a house with washing machine and dryer hookups, yay! My mom bought us a set as a belated wedding gift and my life has been a piece of cake ever since!
