Car Sickness

- Author: Greg Annoying

When I was under ten years old, I remember taking those long car rides, and getting upset that my parents wouldn’t let me turn on the lights in the back seat so I could keep reading. When ever we went on trips, reading always made the drive seem quicker, and I’d get to finish a lot of books that I had been wanting to. It was a good way to pass time, and I loved it and didn’t mind sitting in the car. Then, when I turned about 15, something awful happened. I started to get severely car sick. I wouldn’t be able to read a page in my book with out almost throwing up, so I’d have to take breaks when reading. It sucked, but I could still pull it off. A few years later, no more reading. Looking out the window was my best bet at not getting sick. No more reading at all, and just looking down at my cell phone would make me get dizzy. I had to take Dramamine to be able to be in the car anymore, which knocks you out. Now, without the medicine I can’t even be in the car for very long unless I’m driving. I don’t know how I went from reading books all the time in the car to not even being able to text someone from the passenger seat. It sucks. My mom gets car sick easily too, and I think I just got it from her. Car trips sucks now, I’m either the one driving or passed out in the back seat from the medicine.

Car Trips

- Author: Greg Car

Most people hate long car rides. Especially when they have to make them alone. I, on the other hand, love to take car trips by myself. It’s one of the only times I am completely alone and can think about anything I need to, and come to personal conclusions about things that have been troubling me. And, I love music. It’s the perfect time for me to listen to my own music as loud as I want, and no one can get mad at me. I like to listen to a lot of different music that some of my friends of family may not like, so when I’m alone I don’t have to worry about making sure I have music on that someone else will like and not be annoyed by. I also love to sing, but I don’t like to sing when there are other people in the car with me. When I was in choir, car trips were always the best place for me to practice my solos and contest pieces because I could sing them in the car as I needed to over and over, and no one would get annoyed with me singing. Especially if I was doing horrible. Now, I don’t have to practice for anything, but I still love to sing in my car when I drive. Sometimes until I lose my voice ☺. I also like to drive at night, but I know that it’s more dangerous so I try to make myself drive during the day time and in the light. Getting in a good car trip really helps me de-stress and take some personal time out of my day.

Tires

- Author: Megan Car

Car problems are so irritating. I’m thinking about selling my car for one reason. Every time I blow out a tire, I have to buy a whole new set. This may not seem like a big deal to most people because, how often do you really have blow outs? Well most people probably don’t rip up a lot of tires at all. I don’t mean to, but I manage to shred at least a couple tires a year. Something to do with the on board computer system, the transmission, and the speed of tire rotation on my Subaru makes it impossible to replace only one tire if I’ve had the set for around 15,000 or more miles. Blah! Why in the world would you make an all wheel drive, higher suspension car if it couldn’t even handle drivin over a couple of rocks? So I’m on tire set number three since I bought the car in ‘07. I just had to go get one of the tires repaired. I’m okay with tire repairs. I have warranties. What I’m not okay with is when one stupid little idiot tire is beyond repair, I have to buy FOUR new ones! Don’t show the stupid car driving up a mountain in the commercials if it’s not meant to do just that people! I need to sell it and buy a more SUV type vehicle. Anyone want to buy a Subaru that has been through way too much? If you change your mind, let me know.

Overhaulin’

- Author: Greg Car

I think Overhaulin’ is one of the sweetest yet one of the meanest shows ever. They get in touch with people who have a friend, a husband, a son, or what ever, what wants to have an old vehicle redone. The person sends into the show that they want to put their friends on and surprise them by fixing up their car with out them knowing. But, they don’t just take the car and make is sneaky and then bring it back or anything like that, they always have to play a prank on the other person. They pretend something mean, like the car was stolen or had been impounded and they can’t have it back, and then continue with the prank by calling them every day and dragging them on, making them think they might get their car back sometime. It’s really funny, but sometimes they get really upset and worried and it’s hard to watch. One on episode, a wife put her husband on the show and took away his car and said that it had been stolen and someone was using it for parts. He was really upset, but later on when they showed and interviewed the wife she said that he had actually been crying because he was so upset. I really don’t think I could just sit there and watch someone cry about something that was supposed to be a joke and would soon be a big surprise, I would have to tell them so they wouldn’t waste time being upset. I guess I’m just not good at surprising someone like that!

A Clean Car Is A Happy Car

- Author: Greg Car

It’s really important to get your car washed on a regular basis. I’m the absolute worst when it comes to doing this. I always end up paying for it because it takes a lot of soap and water to get it clean. My ranch house is on a dirt road and I’m always going down there to visit. My car is even white and is supposed to hardly show dirt but there is nothing you can do about those dusty roads. A lot of guys I know enjoy the sport of mudding. I don’t know if this can even be considered a sport because all you do is find a mud pit and drive around in circles. Needless to say, this makes for an extremely messy truck. I had friends in high school that almost ruined vehicles by not washing them off after being exposed to so much filth. Although I never took part in this nonsense, my car has often been so dirty that it’s been embarrassing. I really like getting my car washed as long as I have the time. There’s this place here in Lubbock that vacuums, does the interior, exterior, wheels, and pretty much anything else you ask them to do. It’s so convenient because it doesn’t take very long at all and for all of this, it’s like 20 bucks. Not bad. Now, if I could only come up with the 20 bucks every couple of weeks, that would be awesome!

So Long Tahoe

- Author: Greg Car

Well, to update my last blog… It seems like I’ve changed my mind about my Chevrolet Tahoe. It’s a great car but it eats gas! I love to travel. It’s one of my absolute favorite things to do but gas is so damn expensive these days! It costs almost 60 bucks to fill up my car and of course it gets terrible gas mileage. I love driving big vehicles. I’ve actually only driven one car my whole life but it’s time to downgrade. Now that I have a daughter and am about to become a single parent, I could definitely use the extra 230 dollars every month that I pay to the bank who finances me. When I traded my Mustang in for the Tahoe, I was really not planning on owing so much. I just had to have it though. Now I definitely realize the benefits of owning your car free and clear. It just makes life easier. I really love Jettas. I’ve always thought they were the cutest little cars. I’m hoping to maybe find one of those but if not, that’s ok. I’m going to try not to be picky because all I need is a safe vehicle for myself and my daughter that gets really good gas mileage. It would also be great to walk away with some money in my pocket. Christmas is coming up and it always seems to be the most expensive time of year. Not having a car payment anymore would help me out in so many ways! I hope something works out. Soon!

SUVs Seem To Be My Thing

- Author: Greg Car

I’ve driven big cars my whole life. My first one was a Ford F150. Not a small vehicle by any means. I wanted a truck for my first car. Kinda funny now that I think about it… Anyways, after that I moved on to the nicest car I’ll EVER own, a Toyota Land Cruiser. It was gorgeous, white, leather interior, a GPS system, heated seats! I wish I would have enjoyed it more while I could because I’m never going to have luxuries like that ever again! This thing was huge and I loved it. We were always able to cram all my friends into my car and go anywhere we wanted because I had a third row of seats. After a few years, I traded my Land Cruiser in which was a really stupid idea because I downgraded in a big way. I then got a black Jeep Cherokee. NEVER get a Jeep Cherokee, people. They suck! I’m not really picky when it comes to cars but wow! There was always something wrong with my jeep. The best way for me to explain it is that the quality of my car was just poor, like it wasn’t made right or something, I don’t know… After the jeep, I drove the one and only actual car that will ever be in my life. She was a gorgeous 2007 black Mustang, black leather interior, and black custom made Rockstar rims. I honestly would have kept that car until I died but a surprise pregnancy changed that really quick. I didn’t want to give my Mustang up but knew that I had to have a more practical car for a little one which led me to the vehicle I drive today. Another big one, surprise, surprise… it’s a 2007 Chevy Tahoe and even though I know I’m going to have it even when it’s not cool anymore, I’m really satisfied to have such a nice, reliable car.

Get Your Oil Changed!

- Author: Greg Car

Getting your oil changed on a regular basis is very important. If you don’t, your brand new car could crap out on you at any moment. I’m the absolute worst about waiting until the last minute to get an oil change. Hell, I usually go way past the last minute. I think the last time I got my oil changed I was 2,000 miles over what I should have been. That’s absolutely ridiculous especially when I have my child in the car most of the time. My dad always told me to keep up with my oil changes because when he was young he ruined a vehicle that way. He’d bought a truck when he was in his 30s and only used it on his ranch. Because it never really left the land, my dad was bad about putting off its oil changes. After only a few years, my dad’s truck quit working all together and he had to buy a new one. Lesson learned! After that story, I’ve always tried to stick being on time, but it never seems to work. Actually, going to get your oil changed really isn’t that bad. I go to a place called Bolton’s Oil Change and they are so friendly! They clean your windows and even offer you a drink. The mechanics are really helpful and let you know things like when you need a new air filter and if all your gauges look ok. The best part is that I just drive right through! I never even have to get out of the car. Take my advice folks, keep up with your oil changes! Your car is safer when everything’s up to par.
