I Still Want To Be a Toys R Us Kid

- Author: Greg Baby

In my twenty five years of life I don’t think that I have ever had to stress as much as I have the last 7 years. When you’re a child your parents are there for you giving you what you need through life and trying to raise you right. I was never in trouble as a kid and most of the time I was always on my toes with my chores and other things. I did find out soon enough after I met my husband that he was the man I wanted to spend my life with. I was young but not stupid. My life had lead in a direction that required me to skip my child hood and take on adult responsibilities. I don’t regret that my mom needed me after my dad died. My husband soon proposed and we were married, it was at that point that I realized I had grown up and my own adult responsibilities had started. Through the years I have been through marital issues with my husband ranging from not talking to getting a divorce and it is all over money. When you grow up the more responsibilities you take on the more money it requires. Four years after our marriage my daughter was conceived and my mind was spinning not only was I trying to feed and clothe myself and husband but now I had a beautiful baby on the way that needed just as much if not more and I was scared out of my mind. In the end however I had a great job and was able to take care of everything we needed. Things have been great since then.

Buying Christmas with no money.

- Author: Greg Christmas

The hardest time of the year is the end of it. Your trying to pay your bills on limited income and lets face it most people live paycheck to paycheck so the times are not really easy anymore. What do you do when you get to this time of year and you have no money to buy anythig for anyone? You really start to stress over the holidays and what you are going to get even for your children. There are people out there that have always been able to bu christmas for their children and even get them the things they wanted with out having any issues, but what happens when they have experienced a job loss or even ahve a job that they took that include a decrease in pay? The worst feeling in the world is not getting your children anything. As a mother and a wife it is a had decision to make ecspecially when you have multiple amounts of family coming to town and you havnt seen them in a long time. This is when I start to feel obligated to buy multiple gifts. I soon have to face it my credit cards are maxed and I can barely pay the minimum fees, and there isnt a rat hole to even help us with christmas. Im honestly starting to worry quite horribly about my child having anything this year. However Im secretly praying that we can get through the crunch and that I can continue to hide my stress through it all. Im not sure what is going to happen but I will be sure to figure it out for my child by the time the day comes.

The Wynn Wants Their Money Back

- Author: Greg Gambling

Last summer when we went to Las Vegas, I didn’t have a whole lot of play around money for the trip. I had set aside a bit for shopping, a bit for gambling, and some for souvenirs for all my friends. I flew in from Lubbock and met with my mom and my brother, and then my dad flew in and we stayed in Las Vegas for a few days before heading out to California. Just those few days I made some money on the craps tables, so I felt a lot better about getting to shop and have some more fun when we came back to Las Vegas after being in California for a week. Well, we got back and my mom surprised me with rooms at the Wynn, since it was my favorite hotel. While we were in there, I decided to sit down at a Monopoly slot machine, where I ended up winning around $1,500 dollars. I was freaking out, and had my member card in the holder, so they knew it was me that won. Now, I’ve been getting tons of offers through email and just found more that they had sent to my house to try and get me to come back and stay at their casino. They are offering really good rates, and come credit to play more on their slots. Now, I’m pretty sure they are just mad that I took money from them and they are trying to find a way to get it back from me. I’m not going to fall for it! I know that if I use that credit under my name there’s no way I am going to hit big again like I did. So, thanks for the bonus, Wynn, but I don’t think I’ll be gambling much at your expensive casino in the future!

Impulse Purchases

- Author: Megan Money

Impulse purchases are fun. They are my favorite part of Wal Mart. Who doesn’t always need more Chap Stick, candy, hand sanitizer, batteries, magazines, gum, highlighters, cards, etc…. Well I guess the truth of the matter is no one really NEEDS any of that. I don’t need to know what Oprah or Ms. Lohan are up to or how many kinda Angelina is lugging around these days. I don’t need Chap Stick. I just need to quit washing and melting all of the tubes I have already bought. We live in a society now where more is better. I’m not a minimalist by any means, but I have started to take notice of my impulse purchasing. It’s not just little nick knacks from the cash register stands either. I buy things when I’m bored or discontent. Unfortunately I’m at a point where buying all the crap I feel like owning just isn’t an option right now. Maybe that is why I’ve started thinking about things before making the purchase. I think it’s a pretty logical course of action to stop and think before you buy. Nowadays I find something I like and immediately put it down. If I’m still thinking about it in a few days, I go and visit it again. Usually my mind has built up the object’s beauty more than what is really there, I end up mildly disappointed, leave whatever it is, and go feel proud that I resisted the impulse to waste my money. A few days ago I found a red purse with gold knobs all over it. It was beautiful. Luckily I remembered that I don’t even like red leather or gold anything. Usually I can wait out the urge to buy. Usually thats the best course of action.

Badly Bent

- Author: Megan Money

Being broke is no fun. Everybody knows that. It’s stressful and just makes you feel plain bad about yourself. Broke is one thing, an ugly torturous thing, but being badly bent is quite another. Being badly bent is when you have just enough cash to not loose to much weight and keep your car. I have had the best times being bent. It inspires me to use my imagination to make a good time. Traveling on a budget is fun because you end up staying at and eating at places with “character” and character always makes good photos and memories. One time my friend and I were able to buy 51 grocery items for 15 bucks. Everything was in a yellow box, bag, can or peel. It was fun to TRY to make generic yellow boxed food items taste good. Everyone gets badly bent at some point. All you can really do about it is try to make it into something positive. Being poor is strangely inspirational to me. It’s hard to get complacent when your uncomfortable and it’s hard to be comfortable when you have a crappy job and have to eat all yellow food stuffs. I’ve had my best ideas when I’ve been bent. My mind is constantly working to try to get me out of whatever stupid situation I’ve gotten myself into. Being bent inspired me to move out from under my ex-boyfriend which took me from Albuquerque, Ruidoso, around the world, and back to school. I really think everyone need to bent at some point. They key though, is to be ingenuitive enough to not get broke.

Old Furniture Reinvented

- Author: Greg Apartments

When I moved into my new apartment, I had nothing. I had lived in a furnished apartment for the past three years, and before that I lived in the dorms so I never had to buy any furniture for myself. So, my parents said they would help me get a bed and look for some other stuff with me, but that I was pretty much on my own for the rest of it. I got so lucky, I found my couches at Colortyme for really really cheap and I love them, I bought my coffee tables off of craigslist, even though they were ugly. And then, Derek’s family had a few other things that they didn’t use that were from his sister’s old room. Which were white and covered in yellow flowers. So, everything ended up working out, though most of it wasn’t my style at all. But, you can’t complain about free stuff, so I went to Wal-Mart and bought some supplies to redo the furniture. I sanded off where the flowers had been to get a smooth surface, and then cleaned everything really well. I bough some black paint and painted both of the chest of drawers they gave me, a desk, the coffee tables I got on craigslist, and then everything matched. It might have taken quite a bit of work and patience, but in the end I barely spent anyting on all the furniture I have in my house and I actually like all of it now. So, anytime you come across something that’s cheap and a good find, but may just not be exactly what you want, take it anyway. Just a little creativity and time and you can turn it into exactly what you want, and know that you actually created what it is now.

Wheel of FORTUNE!

- Author: Greg Games

I may have some old-lady tendencies about things. I keep a hand written planner that I have to have with me all the time, I am always checking my bank account to make sure I have it balances correctly with my budget, and I love to keep things organized and clean. But, I think the one I get the most shit for is that every night I love to watch Wheel Of Fortune. I don’t know why this show is dubbed as an old people show, because it’s good. I have always loved it. My family makes fun of me and comments that I’m just like my grandma. But, I’m really good at it and it’s like watching a good TV show and watching the new people one each episode while also playing a game that I really love and am good at. One of these days, one of either of these two things WILL happen:

1. I will be a contestant on Wheel of foretune. I will win lots of money and all of my years of practicing will pay off.
2. I will get a job offer, either while I’m actually on the show as a contestant or when I’m just minding my own business, to take over Vanna White’s job. I want to get to wear a new pretty dress every night and get to stand on the stage and make tons and tons of money for walking in heels and touching lit up squares.

Now, I would love to get to do both of these, and suddenly have number two happen while number one is going on, but we’ll just have to wait and see. I’m impatiently waiting my invitation to be on the show. I guess I’ll just have to settle for watching the show until then.

What’s up with these losers?

- Author: Greg Annoying

It’s my job to hire and to fire people. In the last two weeks I have had over 20 applicants sit down in front of me and tell me how great they were at sales and how great they were in general and that they would never be like the ass that came in right before them. How many have I hired you ask? NONE! Not one. Am I too picky? Nope. I actually gave some people a shot at the positions I have open and not one of them even showed up for work the next day. What kind of idiotic moron does that? I mean, do they want a job or not. In today’s economy, you would think that they would jump all over the job, but nooooo, they just bullshit their way through life. I am so tired of people sitting in my office and lying right to my face and telling me that they will show up for work and then pulling a “no show”. I am providing jobs in horrible time and no one wants to work. They must think it’s better to live off the system and my tax dollars. Of course that is much easier, but come on you low life scum. Don’t you get tired of people looking down on you because you are food stamps? I would rather work than to ever have to be on welfare or any type of government assistance program. The day I have to belittle myself that much is the day I buy a bottle of Windex and a newspaper and start washing windshields at the stop light.

Sales jobs suck!

- Author: Greg General

Ever had a sales job? I have had several. I’m pretty good at too, but sometimes it can really suck ass. I mean, you always get the occasional asshole that knows it all and of course knows a hell of a lot more than you. What the hell is with these people. I’m in the profession I’m in for a reason and that is because I know my shit. If you think you know it all, then by all means, don’t hire me, do the shit yourself. Why do these assholes even call me to find out what my fees are when they know that all they are going to do is try and knock down my price and tell me how to do my job.

Then there is the person that says “Well so and so over at such and such company will do it for a third of the cost of you!”. Fine dipshit, call so and so over at such and such company then. If my prices are too high for you, then why in the hell are you even still talking to me? 99% of the time they hire me anyway because I don’t bullshit or beat around the bush. I shoot from the hip and tell them exactly how it is whether they like it or not. I DO NOT BARGAIN! My prices are set at what they are for a reason. I am in business to make money. I am not a charitable orginization. If you want the cheapest you can get, kiss my ass and then go somewhere else. I don’t need, nor do I want your business. I just don’t get these people. What the hell are they thinking. You get what you pay for and if you want cheap and you get shitty work, you have no one to blame but yourself and you deserve getting screwed.

I’ve Insured Myself Again!

- Author: Greg Health

I graduated in college in May, and have been on my dad’s insurance the whole time I was there. My dad has awesome insurance that make it where I never had a pay an office visit co-pay, and lots of other awesome things like. That helped me out a lot in college, just taking care of a few more fees that I didn’t have the money for. So, when I graduated, the insurance company kicked me off. They kept me on it all through the summer, but when September rolled around they sent a letter requesting that I give them my schedule to prove I was a full time student, which I couldn’t do. So, off I was. I felt uncomfortable not having health insurance, I made it about two months before I freaked out and had to get on some kind of plan. I told my mom I was going to figure it out, and she decided to call my dad’s company and see how much it would be to just go ahead and keep me covered on that. It was going to be ridiculous, but, they told her that I had actually be covered by the insurance up until the day before she called. That really creeped me out, because that was the day I had had enough and decided that I was going to get it the next day no matter what. It made me feel better to know that I was covered all that time, but I wish I had actually known and destressed a bit. Now, I’ve got insurance going on my own plan that isn’t too expensive, and I feel a whole lot better about the whole situation.
