Baby
Tons of baby stuff going on today… I got to see Kayla’s baby for the first time. He was born on Saturday, and I got to see her and hold him when I was in Amarillo driving through. He was perfect, and the littlest baby that I have ever held, and also the youngest baby I have ever held. Then, my sister went to the doctor today and found out the gender of her baby since she is 18 weeks along. I can’t tell yet, but as soon as I can I will let everyone know! Also, since my sister lives in Arlington, I haven’t gotten to see her since she found out that she was pregnant, so tonight when she pulled in to town she came over to see us. It was the first time I saw her, and she is showing a little already. I had to take a picture of her because I couldn’t believe she already had a little bump, I wasn’t thinking that it would be showing that much already. I can’t wait to be an aunt, and now that I’ve seen her it finally seems more real! Only five more long months of waiting for the baby to arrive, I hope it goes by fast!

Lately I have been watching random TV shows about daily things. Some of those shows are pretty addicting, they are always trying to take every day things and turn them into dramatic situations. There are a bunch of cooking shows, and they make the chef out to be a total dick. Or, they have a lot of cake decorating shows that make every cake they make into a huge deal. Like someone will drop it or mess it up, or it will just fall over. Or the people they deliver it to will hate the cake and push it over. Just things that I don’t think happen in every day work for these real occupations. So, when this new show came out called “I didn’t know I was Pregnant” I couldn’t believe it. I have read one or two freak stories about someone who didn’t know they were pregnant and then they gave birth randomly to their child with no clue, but how often can that happen, really? An entire show series about someone who has a baby but doesn’t even know they are pregnant? But, the shows has different women on each episode that claim they had no idea they were pregnant during the either the entire pregnancy or the majority, and they either found out in a freak way or just had the baby and didn’t even know they were in labor. I would like to think that women would be more attuned to their bodies and the changes that happen when you are preparing to have a baby. But, I guess these ones just aren’t.

As I mentioned, my friend Kayla was induced and had her little baby on Saturday. Today, I got to meet the little guy and hold him. At a whopping six pounds plus a couple ounces, he was the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen. I’ve never got to hold a baby that was so young, most of the time by the time I get to see the baby they are already a few months or more old, so they are bigger. And sturdier. He seemed so little and helpless, and I was so scared at first to hold him. But, he’s perfect. The bluest eyes ever, and a head full of blonde hair. His little fingers and finger nails were my favorite part, I can’t believe they are so small but they look so… human. I’ve seen some pictures of some babies that were just born and some of them have looked a little scary. Some of them look like little old people, all wrinkly. But, he was perfect. I expected him to just start talking because he looked just like a little adult. I can’t wait for my sister to have hers, she found out today what she is having and is waiting to tell the entire family until we are all together, so I can’t say anything on here because you never know who’s creeping around and readying what I write! I’ll write all about it as soon as the entire family knows!

Today is the day my sister and her husband find of if their baby is a boy or a girl! I had assumed that as soon as she went to the doctor she would call me and tell me what happened, but now she’s decided that she wants to tell all of us in person. So, I have to wait until we are all together for Thanksgiving to find out. I don’t know if I can stand the wait any longer! But, this is just her 18 week check up, and a lot of the time when you go to that they have a hard time telling for sure what the gender is. Sometimes they have their legs crossed, or the umbilical cord is in the way and the doctor can’t see on the screen. They are expecting to find out today, but for all we know it may be another month before anyone gets the news. I hope everything goes easily and smoothly and they are able to find out for sure what color they need to start buying to decorate! My sister told me yesterday that, according to all her baby books, her baby Is currently the size of a sweet potato. I think it’s cute that they reference the size of your baby using food… I think that sounds like it might be a good nick name for the baby! Any how, I hope that either today or tomorrow I get the news, if they get the news. I can’t wait to know so I can start shopping!

Annoying
So last night about 9 pm I started geeting some sharp pains. I tried to continue my night and work through them but they just kept getting stronger. I felt like something was wrong, although Im pregnant I cant deliver a baby at this stage soI was thinking the worst. My husband made me put everything away and take a hot bath but it wasnt working so we hopped in the car and flew to the hospital. When we got there fortunately there was only about four people ahead of me. I registered at the desk which took over an hour! They asked what my issue was and asked if I was pregnant. I told them I was in fact pregnant and then they asked did you have issues with the first pregnancy? I advised that I didn’t and they told me to have a seat. I sat and waited for over two hours to see a doctor in excrutiating pain. I had never felt like this before and was scared to death of the outcome. My husband was mad and constantly asking how long, all they would say was not much longer and they went back to talking about what they were doing for the holidays. Really so I could possibly have a really bad thing happening to my child and we are talking about the holiday weekend? They finally call me to the back were I sit for another hour before I ever get to see the doctor. Then the doctor comes in and he is absolutley hateful and talking to my husband and not me. The doctor walks out and orders the nurse to do a sonogram and to check the fetal heartbeat. Ok really so if my baby is in distress then it has been that way now for three hours. Im very upset and my blood pressure is elevated at some very high levels. They hook the machines up to me to listen to the baby and I hear the best sound all night. The rapid heartbeat of my child makes me feel so much better that all i can do is cry. When they start looking into the sonogram we notice that the baby is fine but i hhave a tear in the placenta. I ask what can be done for that and the doctor of the emergency room tells me they can do nothing that I have to speak to my doctor as soon as possible. Lucky for me I have an appointment this morning and we can find out what is really going on. I get ready to leave and the nurse apologizes for the long wait. I was so infuriated by the wait and the bedside manner of the doctor that I blatently told the nurse what I thought of the facility. I would advise anyone that has to go to the hospital late night to be prepared for long waits and rude doctors.

I always hated hearing about women who were pregnant and without someone to share the moment with. Situations happen, sometimes you and the father of the child break up and he wants nothing to do with the moment, maybe is has passed away during the pregnancy, or other situations that can happen. I always felt that if the father knew what was going on and had the option of being there during the birth of their child, that there was absolutely no excuse for him to miss the moment. No matter the relationship between the mother, it was still his child that was being born and he should want to be there and be a part of it. Well, until now. I think I may have found a pretty decent reason for the man to know what is going on and not be able to make it… maybe while he’s in space. Randy Bresnik’s baby was born on Earth, 220 miles below him this morning, while he was sleeping in outer space. He still has a week left in outerspace, he is part of the crew that is restocking the space station. ‘I will look forward to that landing … probably more than anybody has in the history of the space shuttle program,’ Randy Bresnik said. They woke him up on the space station with the song “Butterfly Kisses”, as a request from his wife, and they gave him the news. I think that this is a valid enough reason to not be at the birth of your child, but still a little disappointing I’m sure!

My friend Kayla and her husband Cliff had their baby on Saturday! They were worried that she might go into labor at an inopportune time, so they decided to induce her and help the pregnancy along so they would have the baby before the holidays so the family would get to meet him while everyone was visiting. She was induced in the morning and he arrived around 1 pm! His name is Maddox Grant and he is precious. He was 19 and a half inches long and weight 6.75 pounds. She is lucky that he was pretty small! I can’t believe it still, it’s so exciting. Tomorrow I am going to head to Amarillo and meet him, and get to see her. This is just getting me more and more excited about my sister’s baby, because it will be the first time I am an aunt. We really haven’t had many babies in our family that are close to us, all of the recent babies have been born in California and I only get to see them a few times a year. Now, one of my best friends has a baby only a few hours away from me and my sister is going to have one in April. Babies everywhere now! I can’t wait until tomorrow, this will be the youngest baby I have ever held in my life, and I can’t wait to see Kayla and Cliff and get to meet new baby Maddox!

Baby
My friend Kayla is about to pop. She is due on November 24th, but they have decided to induce labor on Saturday the 21st if she hasn’t had him yet. I saw her a little over a month ago and she had gotten bigger, but now I bet she looks a lot different. So, the next time I see her she will have a little baby on the outside instead of the inside. I can’t wait, I love babies. I’m going home this week for Thanksgiving and I’m planning to stop and see her, so he will only be a few days old when I get to meet him. It seems like she just told me she was pregnant, but it was actually so long ago. Time goes by so fast now. After this little baby comes I know it will seem like no time when my niece or nephew is born in April. I sit here and talk about how quick it goes by, and I remember people always saying that to me when I was younger. I remember always hearing that I was changing so much every time I saw family I hadn’t seen in awhile, and now I understand what they meant. I hope that I can be there a lot of the time because I know that the feeling that things are going by really fast is not going to go away. I better take a lot of pictures and be there as much as I can!

My sister is expecting her baby here in April, and she always on the internet learning new things and reading funny baby pages. She found this web site here where you can have your friends and family and who ever register and try to guess information about the baby. There’s the option to guess the baby’s gender, weight, length, even the date and time that you think the baby will be born. It is funny to see what every one thinks the baby will be, since we are going to know here in less than two weeks whether the baby will be a boy or a girl. I can’t wait to know, I guessed girl, and seeing that other people think it’s a boy is funny to me. I think the baby will be relatively small, while others are guessing that she/he will be pretty big. I assume the delivery date will be a few days before the due date for her too, but I think that is just wishful thinking because I hear those last few days are pretty strenuous just waiting on the baby to come out, and I think it’d be better to have the baby a few days before than a few days after. I just sent it out to more family members that haven’t guessed yet, because I want to see what everyone is thinking on the gender since we will all know here soon, right before Thanksgiving. I’ve just assumed it was going to be a girl since I found out, I don’t know why really it’s just what I think. So, soon we’ll know. I can’t wait!

Baby
My sister and her husband found out they are going to be having a baby in April. Common news, yay babies everyone loves them, but I am having a hard time explaining how excited I am. This is going to be the first baby that is… related to me. In a sense. I mean that as in, of all the babies I have encountered in my life I have either been too young to care, or too far away to get to see the baby at all. This is going to be the first baby in my life that is actually IN my life. I am going to be an aunt. It sounds so weird to me, being 23 and going to be an auntie, but I am so excited that I am already buying the baby things for next Halloween, because I know that he/she will be around 6 months old and I can’t wait to buy baby things. They still don’t know whether it will be a girl or a boy, so I am buying gender neutral things until I know for sure. I CAN NOT wait, but of course I have to. I’ve always been a weird type of baby person, I love them and they always love me, but I’m terrified of doing something wrong because I’m rarely around them. Soon enough though, soon enough and I’ll be able to hang out with the baby and dress the baby up and hold the baby and do all that other baby stuff that I’m just rambling on and on about. Auntie J. Sounds good to me. Hurry up April.
