Women of the 50’s

- Author: Megan Body

I really respect women from the 50’s. They always seemed so well put together. They had great hair and were manicured and pedicured twenty-four hours a day. They also wore a lot of very defined make up that would be hard for anyone to keep up with all day. In addition to their top-quality grooming, these women were still stuffing themselves into girdles, corsets, and Lycra to smooth out any bulges that may try to poke out from under perfectly pleated and ironed skirts. Do you know how much effort these women put into themselves each and every day? Looking like a typical 50’s housewife must have been a full time job in itself! All of those soft, pinned curls piled inches high on their heads have to have been projects that were started the night before. Just imagine sleeping on curlers every night and fighting with a corset to breath every day. It had to be absolutely exhausting. Granted, Not many women worked in the 50’s, but who had time to when you were expected to look refined from head to toe night and day? I’m sorry but practicing that much maintenance on top of cooking, cleaning, and putting on a good front for the neighbors takes a lot of energy. It’s no wonder half of these women were using cocain products to get through the day. If these women could bring their work ethic and energy into jobs today, we would be able to accomplish much more and look great doing it.

Bulges

- Author: Megan General

I’m a girl, so I feel like I have bulges and lumps in places they shouldn’t exist. I think this is a misconception that most girls are afflicted with. For example, there is a particular lump that bulges out beside my knee whenever I bend it all the way back. Don’t like it one bit. Just because I don’t like it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be there though. My best friend always complains about her back fat. She’s a 5 foot 10 inch tall idiot who weighs 125 lbs. Really? How much back fat can she really have? She’d be lucky to have some back fat. It seems like all girls have a few certain parts that they obsess over that will never look smooth or toned enough for them. I’m not sure if guys just don’t notice the bulges or they have just been taught (and taught well) to lie and pretend they don’t see them. I can’t decide. It seems impossible for my boyfriend to not notice my arm flab, but he doesn’t seem to even know it’s there. Maybe he just ignores it and pretends like he doesn’t know what I’m talking about so that he won’t have to look at it. Maybe guys have a mental block on bulges. I hope so. Either way, I’m not gonna go getting unhealthy on my mission to seek and destroy bulges, but I will continue to obsess over them. I wish this wasn’t the case, but it’s how I’ve been brainwashed to be.
