Advertizing
GeneralAdvertising has really become an art. I like to watch ads now. Not because I have any interest in buying what they are trying to tell me to buy, but because they are entertaining. In fact there are a lot of times that I don’t even know what the ad is trying to sell me, which works out great for me because I really don’t care. Bud Light beer commercials are usually the ones that get me going. There was one commercial that centered around the word “dude.” It was all of these situations where the guys would say “dude” to each other, like a guy sitting on a huge couch by himself and his friend comes over and sits next to him, almost on top of him, and the guy looks to his buddy and says, “dude,” as if to say, “there is a whole couch here, how come you have to come cramp my space?” I never realized how many different ways the word “dude” could be used. They seemed to use it as a noun, verb, subject, predicate, nearly every literary classification, yet I still didn’t want a nice cold Bud Light afterward. I am not really sure what advertisements are trying to accomplish these days. I understand that they are more interested in just getting their name out there rather than really trying to convince you to buy their product in the thirty second slot, but what is the point. For a company like Microsoft, who is really the only game in town when it comes to computer operating systems, to advertise just seems like a waste of money. I don’t know, these are multi-million and billion dollar corporations so I guess they have a better handle on what they are doing than I do. I hope that’s the case.

Cowboy’s Stadium
Foot BallThis weekend, Texas Tech and Baylor played at the Cowboys stadium. I had seen the stadium before because my sister lives only a few miles from it, but only from the outside. I really didn’t think I was going to get the opportunity to go inside, especially the first year it was opened, but when I heard about the game I just had to find a way in. From the outside, I had always thought that the stadium looked like a big boat. Once you get up closer to it, it looks a lot bigger than what you would expect. We just had to buy party passes to get into the stadium, and we were free to wander around and look at it. It was HUGE. The jumbotron on the ceiling was so big I couldn’t even understand it. They had four hanging up in the middle, and the ones that were facing the end zone were bigger than any I had ever seen, but the ones that were facing out the other way were just unimaginable. Everything just smelled and felt so new, and everything was just SO BIG. We wandered around and took tons of pictures, there were areas that were weren’t aloud to go into but we got the main idea of how the stadium was. Since they didn’t serve alcohol at our game, we found a bar inside and went in. Everything just seemed really high class and was pretty, and every where you went there were TVs so you could see what was going on when you were away from the field. I really hope I get the chance to go to a Cowboy’s game soon and get to explore more!

Last Man Standing Week 12
Foot BallThis week for the Last Man Standing, there are 8 of us left. Of those 8, I know 6 of them are my family, so our odds are looking pretty good. This week my best pick was the Cincinnati Bengals, along with 7 other people that are still in. The other person picked Dallas, and since they played on Thursday we all knew that he was definitely safe. Then, it showed that we had all chosen to go with Cincinnati so it was either going to be we were all still in the game, or the guy who picked Dallas would be the only one left if they lost. The game wasn’t too shocking, they were given a huge spread over Cleveland and won the game with out stressing me out too much. Dallas played Oakland, which wouldn’t have been an awful choice for me but I had already used Dallas last week. So, this week, we’re back at square one. All eight of us are still in it and we have to make another go at it. I hope that a few get out this week, hopefully not me. Then, I hope we get to go for one more week and it’s over. It has gone on for so long, and I’m glad I’m still in it, but it’s getting harder and harder for me to choose because I’m running out of good teams, and eventually we’re going to have to all pick a team that we don’t feel comfortable with. I hope next week it gets closer to the end and we don’t all pick the same team again!

Baylor = No Beer
AlcoholThis weekend Texas Tech and Baylor were scheduled to play. They decided last year, that since the Dallas Cowboys Stadium would be finished that we would get to play them there every year. This was the first year they had the game there, and I really had no idea how I was going to get in. There were no tickets online, but I just knew that I had to go. My cousin and I decided to car pool it to Arlington since my sister lives there, and a few hours before the game we went out to try and find some tickets. We saw no one. We walked around for a few hours, needing to get at least three for me and both of my cousins, but no one. We finally decided that the best bet would be to get the Party Passes, which were tickets that just let you into the stadium but you didn’t have a seat. We knew that we needed to get in fast, and then at least we would get good standing room. We ended up watching most of the game from the standing rooms, but spend a big chunk of the night, including half time, in a bar that we found. We were supposed to be able to drink in the game, but Baylor decided that they wanted to be jerks and no let them serve alcohol in the stadium, so you had to go into a bar to drink and couldn’t leave with your glasses. So, next year, I hope they change their mind and quit being stupid about that. College kids drink, I don’t care of you go to Baylor or Tech, and with this rare opportunity they should have let us go all out!

Baby Guessing Game
BabyMy sister is expecting her baby here in April, and she always on the internet learning new things and reading funny baby pages. She found this web site here where you can have your friends and family and who ever register and try to guess information about the baby. There’s the option to guess the baby’s gender, weight, length, even the date and time that you think the baby will be born. It is funny to see what every one thinks the baby will be, since we are going to know here in less than two weeks whether the baby will be a boy or a girl. I can’t wait to know, I guessed girl, and seeing that other people think it’s a boy is funny to me. I think the baby will be relatively small, while others are guessing that she/he will be pretty big. I assume the delivery date will be a few days before the due date for her too, but I think that is just wishful thinking because I hear those last few days are pretty strenuous just waiting on the baby to come out, and I think it’d be better to have the baby a few days before than a few days after. I just sent it out to more family members that haven’t guessed yet, because I want to see what everyone is thinking on the gender since we will all know here soon, right before Thanksgiving. I’ve just assumed it was going to be a girl since I found out, I don’t know why really it’s just what I think. So, soon we’ll know. I can’t wait!
