To all of the people out there that have applied for government benefits I feel for you. I have been through multiple things through the last few months trying to apply for my pregnancy Medicaid, food stamps and assistance with my child’s Medicaid. I have worked my tired rear end off trying to get everything right so that nothing was denied or delayed. RIGHT! This is not as easy as they make it sound. So I started with the Pregnancy Medicaid because I found out I was pregnant first, well what a big issue that was. Trying to get everything together and then worrying about if I was going to be approved. Then the lady working my case was so rude that I couldn’t stand to call and talk to her about anything that I needed help with. Is that not why they are there to help you so that you don’t get denied. I realize that there are many people applying for government assistance but seriously it drives me insane not to get the help I need. Then I was applying for my daughters Medicaid and I get worried about her insurance due to the fact she has an ongoing health issue that has to be checked regularly. I worried for weeks over that and then they sent me a letter stating that unfortunately she was not approved for Medicaid but she was approved for chip which is fine just as well as long as my daughter is cared for. Now we are waiting on the food stamps. I’m going to worry about that for a while until they tell me the results of the interview. Hopefully things turn out great.

Why is it when you get pregnant that you feel you need to run out and buy new maternity clothing? With my first child I thought I had to have all the hyped maternity clothes that come with being pregnant. Then I started recieving the baby magazines that showed these women wearing beautiful maternity clothes at outrageous prices. A single maternity dress could cost you up to at least 140 dollars if not more. I began to wonder if the material was spun from gold worms. Then I began to notice that Walmart was going to carry a maternity line. GREAT!! I thought but when their maternity line came out it consisted of a meer 4 different shirt styles and some jeans. Blah the same old thing. So I went through my first pregnancy spending money on maternity clothing. After my daughter was born it hit me that I could have shopped in the plus size clothing at Walmart and been just fine. Now that Im pregnant with my second child the books and magazines are coming in again and I’ll be danged the maternity christmas dresses are beautiful but I refuse to spend over twenty dollars on anything at anytime. I try to spend as minimal as possible on anything that I do during pregnancy at anytime, and that includes the high dollar clothing that they say will make a pregnant woman look fabulous. Since becoming pregnant for the second time I have learned that I can wear my husband’s shirts and sweat pants to be more frugile. Its not pretty but it works!

Recently I had to give away my sweet sweet shitzu due to the fact he became strongly aggressive towards me after becoming pregnant. We could not figure out why he was being so aggressive towards me he was perfect with my husband and my daughter. However it broke my heart more than anything to have to put him on the local ad for rehoming. I felt like I had let him down but I couldn’t even let him out when he needed to potty because he would bite my hand as he come out the door of his kennel. My poor two year old would let him out of his kennel and luckily for me she knew how to work the lead to put it on him and then opened the door for him. My husband became leery and I was getting mass emails on my poor baby dog. I finally however decided on a loving family with three wonderful children. It was in fact the oldest child’s request of me that had me in tears. She was a high school student that worked a couple of hours after school and had convinced her mom and dad that if she paid for her own animal could she have one and they said yes. She was the one that gave my beautiful baby an new home after living with me for three years. I had an update on my baby earlier this week and he is absolutely happy in the home he is at. Continuing to play with the children and their three year old everyday tires him out for the evening. He will always be missed and always have that special place in my heart.

Everyone says that smoking is harmful to your child while in the gestation process. What happens however when you cannot stop smoking and your pregnancy doesn’t make you sick enough to quit what do you do? Studies have shown that when you try to stop smoking during pregnancy and you try and quit cold turkey that your baby goes through harder with drawls than the mother. It has shown that as the mother goes through with drawls the baby goes through with drawls at the same time but because the mother is going through with drawls the baby goes through double with drawls. Some people consider this more deadly than just smoking to begin with. My doctor has said that when a mother puts herself through with drawls she puts her child in shock bad enough that the baby could possibly have heart failure; this causes the baby to die inside the womb. So I ask myself what is really the worst thing for your child stopping smoking or not stopping. This is an issue that every mother that smokes has to decide for herself whether or not she needs to quit smoking. I personally could not stop smoking during my pregnancy. My doctor didn’t like it but didn’t see an issue with it after he started explaining the issue that could even happen when you try and quit smoking. Many American mothers’ get ugly looks and even talked about in circles of friends but until they have to endure what can actually happen there is no reason to judge.

Have you ever received unwanted opinions from family members who technically shouldn’t say anything? I have been in more situations trying to defend myself than I have just having a good time with family. One of my situations included smoking while I was pregnant. I know what everyone says about smoking while you’re pregnant, you shouldn’t be smoking while you are pregnant you will harm your baby. What do you say to family that has been in the same boat and now they are telling you what to do? I have had to explain myself constantly over smoking while pregnant. I have spoke to my doctor about the smoking and fact is he would rather me smoke then try to take depression medication and have a higher chance of harming my child. This is what I keep trying to explain to the family. My doctor knows that I smoke, however he doesn’t like the fact that I smoke he does know about it. It’s pretty amazing my child is safe and growing very healthy inside my stomach. I also smoked with my first child and what is funny about that is they never said a word about me smoking with her. Surprise she turned out very healthy and very beautiful.  So as I continue to try and explain this to my in-laws they continue to bad mouth the situation. The only thing I can say to them is until my doctor states that it is causing issues with my child it is not going to stop.

1.)    So I went to the doctor’s office this morning after the advice of the hospital and to my surprise everything is fine. I went in and sat for about 10 minutes after registration and my doctor’s nurse called me to the back to have my blood pressure done and the new blood test to check and see if there is issues with my pregnancy. After the blood test I went into the room to have my Dr take a look at everything. He had gotten the tests from the hospital the night before and had already looked at the tests when he comes into the room. He told me that there was not a tear any were that he could see from the ultra sounds and that the only thing he could tell could make that assumption was the umbilical cord was floating around, causing a line through the uterus. The news made me feel better but really made me mad in the long run. Why did the hospitals assume there was a tear if they couldn’t tell. I was upset and crying and my doctor could tell that they had really upset me the night before and had made sure to tell me everything was ok. I explained everything that had happened to me the night before and my doctor was infuriated. It was at that moment he explained if I  continued to have issues with the hospital then I was to let him know. He also told me that if there was anything else that I felt was wrong then to call him first. I have such a loving doctor and couldn’t ask for anyone better.

I had no knowledge of how important blood type can be during a pregnancy until doing some research on some of the complications that can come with the parents having different blood types. Everyone has different antigens that sit on the top of their red blood cells, some have A antigens, B antigens, both A and B antigens, or none, which makes them an O blood type. To decifer whether or not you are a positive of a negative blood type, there is the RH factor. If you have the RH antigent on your red blood cells, then you are a positive blood type, and if you don’t then you are negative. So, if you have A and B antigens, and the no RH antigens, you are an AB Negative blood type. If a mother is RH negative, then she has antigens in her body that may fight off and destroy and positive antigens in her system. Meaning, if the fetus is RH positive, her body may attach the fetus and enter into the placenta and cause complications, or even miscarriage. So, if a mother is RH negative, and there is a chance that her baby may be RH positive, such as the father is an RH positive, she should receive a shot to help deal with the antibodies fighting the babies positive antigens. If the mother is positive, there is no worry for this. If both parents are negative, there is also no need to worry. If there is a chance the baby may be positive, then the mother should receive the Rh immunoglobulin. During the first pregnancy, the mother usually doesn’t produce enough antibodies to fight off the Rh positive fetus, but if the second child is Rh positive her body will produce the antibodies much quicker and should be monitored by a high risk obstetrical specialist.

   Dancing or not while pregnant is something I have been trying to decide whether or not to do. Really the only place you can go dancing in Lubbock Texas is at a bar. However when you are pregnant people began to look at you funny like you have just created a whole new sin. I felt that I was being pulled back to the door after taking a step into it. However my husband felt that it would all be ok. I met up with my cousin and her husband and we all started to dance no problems everything was going great. When my husband called the waitress to the table to order drinks she didn’t even ask me if I wanted anything she took everyone’s order but mine. She comes back with three beers and I’m just sitting there. I may be pregnant but I can still have a regular coke or even sprite. These are always behind the counter at a bar because they are used in multiple drinks. My husband was absolutely upset and when he asked her why she didn’t ask me for a drink order she said she assumed I wouldn’t be drinking anything. My husband blatantly informed her that is how you make an ass of yourself and he would appreciate it if she would bring his wife cokes and not stop them all night. Needless to say when I was finished with one another was waiting. I love it when my husband sticks up for me.

1.)    Depression and Pregnancy is something that happens to many people when they become pregnant every day. What happens when you already have depression and then get pregnant? I had depression when I became pregnant the first time and was on the pill called Paxil. During my pregnancy they removed me from Paxil and put me on the pill Wellbutrin. It wasn’t until the end of my pregnancy that I found out why they took me off of the Paxil. According to the news the Paxil medication caused multiple birth defects including heart problems, under development, and even intestines on the outside instead of inside. Wellbutrin has never helped me with what I needed and I always felt lost couldn’t make it to work because I didn’t want to be there and was constantly at the throat of all of my family. I’m pregnant again and I have had mood swings but that comes with pregnancy. My doctor put me back on my Paxil after my daughter was born and I had been on it up through the time I found out I was pregnant with my second child. This time I told myself that I wasn’t going on anything Wellbutrin didn’t help and Paxil is dangerous. I have been doing quite well with no medication but I really have to think before I speak as to not offend or be blunt to a person.

My friend Kayla is about to pop. She is due on November 24th, but they have decided to induce labor on Saturday the 21st if she hasn’t had him yet. I saw her a little over a month ago and she had gotten bigger, but now I bet she looks a lot different. So, the next time I see her she will have a little baby on the outside instead of the inside. I can’t wait, I love babies. I’m going home this week for Thanksgiving and I’m planning to stop and see her, so he will only be a few days old when I get to meet him. It seems like she just told me she was pregnant, but it was actually so long ago. Time goes by so fast now. After this little baby comes I know it will seem like no time when my niece or nephew is born in April. I sit here and talk about how quick it goes by, and I remember people always saying that to me when I was younger. I remember always hearing that I was changing so much every time I saw family I hadn’t seen in awhile, and now I understand what they meant. I hope that I can be there a lot of the time because I know that the feeling that things are going by really fast is not going to go away. I better take a lot of pictures and be there as much as I can!
