Old to New

- Author: Greg Creativity

My husband and I have started watching HGTV and not that it gives us many ideas with a western theme it does help us to see how refurbishing things to our standards are really worth bargain hunting. We have been watching the flea market and local thrift shops for a while looking at things we could take and turn into something that is unique in style and yet matches our taste in décor. We continue to take lessons daily on what is a good thing to do with pieces of furniture and there is some really good insight on how to refinish antiques. My husband has recently begun a new project with an old bench made from wagon wheels and many things are beginning to fall into place.  I never knew that you could take a TV show and turn it into real life. He makes multiple items a lot of the times with help from his dad and sometimes his dad gets overly excited and begins making things by himself. The things that can come out of the garage when those two are working together or even when they are working apart are amazing and you wouldn’t believe that it just to a TV show to make it all completely possible. There is nothing like two handy men to make things and bring old things to life.

Teen Cribs… Come on!

- Author: Greg Annoying

That show Cribs on MTV makes me sick. They show these celebrities that have amazing houses and cars. They give you a pretty detailed tour of the house so you can see all the luxuries they have, and then they take you into the garage and show off all the cars they have that they don’t need. I am so jealous, because I can’t wait to have a house of my own. Though I don’t think it will be quite like these, I know that it’s going to be awesome. But, for now, I get to see celebrities that have one hit wonders and they are living in these insane houses and didn’t really have to do anything to get them. Now, that sucks, but at least they did hit it big and lucky to be able to afford the house they live in. Now, there’s a new show on MTV. Called Teen Cribs. That makes me even sicker. They show these spoiled no bodies that live with their parents in their crazy houses. I don’t understand why they have to have a show to broadcast these spoiled kids. They have game rooms with giant TVs and pool tables, tennis courts, cars they can’t even drive cause they aren’t old enough, just like the real cribs but for kids that haven’t done anything in their lives. They show some that are young celebrities that have actually done something to be famous and rich, but then they have the episodes with the kids who are just living on their parents money. Leave me alone, MTV, stop making me jealous of these little kids!

House Addiction

- Author: Megan Addictions

Fox must put something into it’s dramas. I don’t watch a ton of TV, but when I first moved back here to Lubbock I didn’t have a lot going on so I watched lots of the stuff. I used to be really into House, but when I moved into a TV free zone, I eventually just forgot about it. There was a while when I would use my laptop to watch it on Hulu, but I eventually weened myself off of House and took up healthy activities to fill the void. I liked that I didn’t ever watch TV. Made me feel like some sort of elitist. But THEN, I moved back here where TV is just running amok and Fox was able to drag me back into the dark side. I just can’t resist House or The Simpsons. Lie To Me can capture me for an hour if I let it get close and Glee looks like something I might like. I’m not as bad as some people I know who get bent out of shape if they don’t get to see their show, but man, I just can’t seem to stop myself once I get started. I don’t like it. Coffee is the only addiction I’ve ever had and I feel bad enough about that. I don’t need to be addicted to a raving, ranting, mean, confused, psychotic, tall, handsome doctor. The bad thing about addictions is that you can’t chose which ones you want. As far as addictions go though, I guess I’m lucky to just be stuck with House and coffee.

Overhaulin’

- Author: Greg Car

I think Overhaulin’ is one of the sweetest yet one of the meanest shows ever. They get in touch with people who have a friend, a husband, a son, or what ever, what wants to have an old vehicle redone. The person sends into the show that they want to put their friends on and surprise them by fixing up their car with out them knowing. But, they don’t just take the car and make is sneaky and then bring it back or anything like that, they always have to play a prank on the other person. They pretend something mean, like the car was stolen or had been impounded and they can’t have it back, and then continue with the prank by calling them every day and dragging them on, making them think they might get their car back sometime. It’s really funny, but sometimes they get really upset and worried and it’s hard to watch. One on episode, a wife put her husband on the show and took away his car and said that it had been stolen and someone was using it for parts. He was really upset, but later on when they showed and interviewed the wife she said that he had actually been crying because he was so upset. I really don’t think I could just sit there and watch someone cry about something that was supposed to be a joke and would soon be a big surprise, I would have to tell them so they wouldn’t waste time being upset. I guess I’m just not good at surprising someone like that!

Say Yes to the Dress

- Author: Greg Family

On TLC, I get lost during some of the shows. They are always showing regular things that people have to do in their lives, but make it seem a lot more dramatic. Like buying a house, or finding a wedding dress. One of my favorites to watch lately is Say Yes to the Dress. The women go into the bridal shop, they show pictures and say what kind of dress they are looking for and what their budget is. Then, it’s the job of the person helping them to find their perfect dress, within their budget, during their appointment. They always show drama on the show, like the women come in with a hundred different dresses they just HAVE to try on, or they don’t even know exactly what they want and all the dresses they choose are different. I think it’s funny when they bring their families in with them and the mothers disagree with the dresses they choose. I think it makes a situation that is supposed to be really fun and exciting look a lot more stressful than I’d like for it to be. I hope shopping for a wedding dress is a lot of fun with you family and friends there, and no one is stressing out like they do on the show. But, then again, if it showed everyone happy and getting along and everything working out so well, I don’t think they would have the number of viewers they do.

Disney doesn’t leave me wondering

- Author: Greg TV

I talk a lot about TV, so it sounds like I’m totally addicted to it. But, I really don’t watch it too much. Well, I don’t watch it religiously. I don’t have a DVR, so it’s hard for me to keep up with series that I’m interested in unless I remember to program them on my boyfriends TV. So, when ever I’m bored sitting at home, I turn on the TV just to see what is on. Most of the time, I head for MTV, HG, TLC, basic channels that I like most of the time. But, often, I end up on Disney or Nickelodeon. The shows on those channels during the day are so cute, unless aimed at 5 and under. I may be in my 20’s but I still like to sit down and watch a good TV show that doesn’t involve everyone sleeping with each other and cheating on their wives and husbands. Sometimes, I just want to watch some people do funny things and all be happy together. I don’t really care for shows that end when they don’t make sense, because I am probably not going to get the chance to catch the next episode and understand what is going on. So, I switch over to Disney and watch thirty minutes of comedic, simple television, and the problems that arise are always solved before that half hour is over. Then, I can go on with what I was doing before and not have to worry about what is going to happen on the next episode. Thanks, Disney.

TV Series on DVD

- Author: Greg Jana's Approval

It’s hard for me to keep up with any type of television series because I don’t have DVR and I get really busy and forget about them, so when ever I can rent or buy a season of a show and really get into it I love doing that. A long time ago a friend of mine rented all the Desperate Housewives DVD’s and we watched all of them, and I really got into it. It was a show I had never seen, and then, cancel out the commercials and let me watch it over and over in order and I suddenly feel like I’d been watching the show the entire time it was on. My boyfriend just got into the HBO series Dead Wood, and we’ve been watching it. He watches it a lot more than I do, I just catch a few episodes every now and then when ever I’m over and he decides to watch them. It’s just a handy little idea that someone came up with so that we can watch TV shows when ever we want and can get into a show that has been on for years even though we never got to watch it. It’s really the only way that I can keep up with television shows on my own, unless I can get a DVR in the near future. It’s also a cool way to get extra footage and information about the show that you wouldn’t get just from watching it on TV. Of the few episodes of Deadwood I have seen, it seems like a good show and I know that I can easily catch up to him because I can just borrow the DVDs and be right on where he is in the series.

Kardashian Wedding Special

- Author: Greg Celebrity

Last night on E! the Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom wedding special was on. I get easily sucked into those stupid reality shows, so I have been watching the Kardashian’s show on E for a long time. I watched “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and “Kourtney and Khloe take Miami”, so when I heard this was going on I had to make sure and watch it. A lot of the stuff that happens on these shows is hard for me to believe, like they actually got that entire wedding together in less than two weeks, but it makes it a lot more dramatic and fun to watch when they throw things like that in there. There was lots of fighting, lots of chaos, everything that is necessary for a good reality show. The wedding was really pretty and it was good to see Khloe actually find someone to be with. That family has a lot of stuff going on with them all the time, and I’m glad that my family isn’t so dramatic. They are always yelling at each other and getting into fights and calling each other names. I hope that a big part of the show is fake and scripted, as I do with all of these stupid shows I love, but when they do interviews they act the same way. It was a good show, and if you are into the Kardashians like I am then I would suggest you watch it. I’m sure E will be replaying it several times this week like they usually do.

Trashy reality TV is addicting

- Author: Greg Entertainment

I have a weakness for trashy reality TV, like most girls my age. I love dating shows, I love competition shows, anything involving “real” people being put together and then put on TV. One of my favorite of these is the Real World. I watch it every season, even though it just continues to get worse and worse each year. But, part of watching this show is so I can watch an even better show that just mashes all the “stars” together and makes them do physical challenges against each other, or, The Challenge. The one on this season is full of drama, exactly what is needed to make it a good one. Instead of having to learn the new people and watch them do nothing all day, you get to see the people you’ve been following for years on the show all get together and battle it out for money. They do what ever it takes, they are all a bunch of selfish ass holes, just all around awesome TV. It seems like MTV will do anything for ratings, so they always make sure to bring back the ones who cause the most drama each time. This season, they brought back Wes and Johana, who used to date on previous challenges. But now, Wes is dating Kellyann and she is on the show too. So if that’s not enough they have her ex on the show, Cuhutta, as well. I think they just want to see what kind of fights they can cause and get people kicked off the show. Well, at least it’s entertainment for me so I don’t mind. I can’t wait for the next episode!
